The injury reportedly occurred when Jordan had a ground ball bounce off his glove, causing him to pick up the ball with his hand, ultimately jamming it into the ground.

Mike Hazen stated, “It was unfortunate. I mean, it was just a freak playing injury.”

While Lawlar was not slated for the DiamondbacksOpening Day roster, there was a high probability of him receiving a call-up sometime during the season.
