Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas has a rib fracture and will be out "a while," manager Alex Cora told reporters before the team opened a three-game series in Cleveland against the Guardians.

Casas was already on the 10-day injured list, but tests revealed the fracture. Cora did not offer a specific timetable to how long Casas will be out.

The 24-year-old slugger felt discomfort in his rib area during his first at-bat in Boston's 4-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday and left the game.
