One step forward another step back has been the theme of Steven Gerrard’s reign at Aston Villa.
And after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace, it is now just three wins in their last 14 Premier League games for Gerrard’s Villa side.
There was an initial bounce when the former Liverpool captain took over from Dean Smith last season and at one point they were ninth in the table. But their form took a dip in March and they won just two of their final 11 league games — and those were against Norwich and Burnley.
