Eddie Howe believes Nick Pope should be pushing to dislodge Jordan Pickford from England’s No 1 spot heading into the World Cup.
The Newcastle goalkeeper comes up against Manchester City’s Ederson this afternoon — the only two stoppers yet to concede in the Premier League this season.
Pope was outstanding during last weekend’s goalless draw at Brighton and has looked a bargain at £11million from Burnley.
The 30-year-old has eight England caps and will almost certainly be part of Gareth Southgate’s squad in Qatar.
