NBA Trade Rumors: Knicks, Rockets Getting Closer On Carmelo Anthony Trade, Pelicans Could Be Involved

The biggest NBA trade rumor remains a potential Carmelo Anthony deal. The New York Knicks and Houston Rockets are still involved in talks around the superstar and a new team has been linked to the discussions: the New Orleans Pelicans.

After Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN mentioned a four-team trade could go down without mentioning any teams, Marc Berman of the New York Post suggested the Pelicans could be involved.

The Pelicans once had PF Ryan Anderson, whose contract must be included for any Anthony trade to work. The problem is that the Knicks, and apparently no other team, wants to take on Anderson's three-year, $60 million deal. But the Pelicans are a curious fit, given the presence of DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis. Still, Anderson could be a good first big off the bench and help provide spacing.

Frank Isola reported earlier today the trade "is on the two-yard line," meaning it's close to being done. However, Berman and Wojnarowski reported that nothing is imminent. When and if a trade happens still remains unclear, especially the teams struggle to find a taker for Anderson. However, Anthony does feel confident a deal will happen

New York and Houston have also reportedly been talking to the Portland Trail Blazers about being a third team in an Anthony trade. However, it's unclear if those talks are still happening.
