The Milwaukee Bucks will not have Giannis Antetokounmpo for Game 1 of their first-round playoff series against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday night.

Coach Doc Rivers made the announcement about two hours before the scheduled tipoff in Milwaukee.

Antetokounmpo missed the Bucks' final three regular-season games with a strained left calf and was considered unlikely to play after remaining out of live drills ahead of the series opener.

Bucks president Peter Feigin had told Milwaukee radio station WKLH that Antetokounmpo "definitely will not be back for Sunday," but Rivers did say Friday that he wasn't ready to rule him out for the start of the series.
